It is expected that Calgary’s Stephen Ames will be among the world-class competitors. The two-day exhibition event is scheduled for July 25-26, immediately after the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open at Vancouver’s Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club. Turns out, this summer marks the 100th anniversary of golf in Banff, a rich tradition that dates back to a nine-hole course built by railway workers and eventually scrapped so the legendary Thompson could create his masterpiece. Whistler Golf

Golfing in Whistler is a perfect activity for the upcoming summer season. Whistler Horizons offers many holiday packages that include golf features with your accommodation. Our Whistler golf page describes several different excellent golf courses we suggest you try out during your stay at Whistler. A lot of the golf courses accommodate a hotel – such as the Nicklaus North Golf course and Chateau Whistler Golf course.

The Fairmont Chateau golf course is the most illustrious course and could be my favorite course I have ever played in Whistler. The rates typically start upwards of $175 for a round but it is the type of course you have to play at least once. My grandpa played golf his entire life and this was his favourite course ever, which speaks for itself. If you have the time and money I would highly recommend taking a moment to enjoy this Whistler golf course. The views and style of play on this course are like no other.

Nicklaus North was designed by the “Golden Bear” Jack Nicklaus. This course is about a five minute drive outside of Whistler and is a semi private course. You can hop on for $109 CAD as of September 21. The course is home to the skins game which has been played by Freddie Couples, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh and of course Jack Nicklaus. You will commonly cross the path of black bears so watch your food. There is lots of water on this course so bring a spare ball.

You always have the choice of playing Furry Creek which is a cart course located just outside of Squamish. This is a difficult and long course but it has some spectacular views and unique holes on the ocean and in the mountains.

Please browse through the Banff golf courses included on our site and give us a call to learn more. The Canadian Rockies has over 275 golf courses – most of them open to the public.
